Consulting

Decide before you build.

What to build, on what, for whom, and who should build it. Decided before anyone opens a design tool.

The service

What strategic web consulting is.

Strategic web consulting is advice on your whole web presence, available on its own without a build. You come away with a decision you can defend to your board and hand to whoever executes it.

People often arrive with a question that sounds technical, like should we move to Webflow?, and find a business question underneath: who is this site for, what does it need to do, and who will keep it alive.

Scope

What we advise on.

Technology selection. Which platform fits your team, your publishing volume and your product: WordPress, Webflow, Next.js, or something you already own. The recommendation follows the situation, which is why it is worth buying separately from the build.

Scoping. What the site needs to contain, based on who is buying and what you are selling. Getting this right is what keeps the rest of the project on budget.

Promotion strategy. How the site gets found: search, AI answers, paid and content. Deciding it now shapes the sitemap; deciding it later means revisiting the sitemap.

Vendor selection and management. If you are hiring builders, we help you choose them, write the brief, review the work and hold the timeline. We do this whether or not we are the builder, and we will happily point you to a specialist when one fits better.

Moments

When people call us.

  • Before a rebuild, to scope it properly
  • Mid-project, when a build needs a clear head and a firm hand
  • After an acquisition or repositioning, when the site needs to describe the company as it is now
  • When several vendors are involved and one person needs to own the outcome

Process

How it works.

A conversation first. Free, thirty minutes, no deck. If someone else is a better fit, we tell you on that call and point you their way.

Then a fixed-scope engagement. Usually one to three weeks. You get a written recommendation: platform, sitemap, scope, sequence, budget range, and the risks we can see.

Then it is yours. There is no obligation to build with us. Some clients take the document and execute elsewhere, and that is a good outcome too. It is priced as its own piece of work.

Deliverables

What you get.

  • A written recommendation you can act on or hand to another vendor
  • A sitemap and content model
  • A realistic budget range and sequence
  • The trade-offs stated explicitly, including where we are less certain

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Can I buy consulting without a build?

Yes, and many clients do. It is priced as its own engagement, with no obligation afterwards.

Will you always recommend WordPress?

The recommendation follows your situation. WordPress is our default because it suits marketing teams that publish often; we recommend Webflow for smaller design-led sites and Next.js when the site is part of a product surface. Getting that call right matters more to us than winning the build.

Do you work alongside our existing agency?

Regularly. Vendor management is part of what we do (writing the brief, reviewing the work, holding the timeline), and it works best when everyone knows we are doing it.

How does pricing work?

A fixed price for a defined scope, quoted before we begin. We give you the number on the first call.
